The suite was very spacious and clean. Our son enjoyed the animation programme for kids and the playground.

The outdoor pools could be warmer. The main restaurant is very large and busy and the plates and glasses could really be cleaner.

Good location, 5 minute walk down the hill to the beach and shops close by

The check-in was quick and easy , you have the option to fill a check-in form online to hurry up the process. The pool was great for all ages (just water was very cold for little one) easy access to rooms . Evening entertainment was a great end to the day . The food was okay . Rooms were cleaned every day if put sign on door . Fresh towels , shampoo shower gel and conditions, and toothbrush and paste provided .small fridge in the room All staff were friendly . Close to town with shuttle bus as an option . Steap Hill to the hotel didn't bodder us . But may others.

The food was cold at the snack bar . Food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner were okay . Felt like I was eating the same every day. Even though it had themed nights, eg - Mexican. Water was very cold in the pool . We could not access the water park all week as they did not open due to a little rain . Very disappointing.

Altogether a good place with outstanding staff.

The staff is so friendly and always happy, smiling while they do their hard work. Absolutely incredible people. We're already missing them. It can't be stated enough, how brilliant so many of the staff was. So much care, our baby got sick in the middle. They offered arranging doctors visit or medicine if we'd needed it. As we were stuck mostly in our room, we got a call from reception if there is anything else they could help us with. Also, at the buffet restaurant, they let us take food to our room. And asked if they need to cook anything special for our baby. We were really blown away by staff concerns for us. Also they put on extra activities with music and dancing... as our daughter loved it.

Cleanliness, in general, can pick up a little. Sometimes room cleaning wasn't done really well. Our bedding and towels weren't changed whenever our baby left marks... our balcony was only cleaned once in two weeks. Also, the Internet connection was very unreliable. There were two doves flying and seemingly living in the buffet restaurant, which should be addressed.

The Occidental Jandia Mar is an excellent hotel choice for families, especially those with young children. The staff is incredibly friendly and the animators go above and beyond to create fun activities, including a kids' disco every night. The hotel is generally clean, and guests can request fresh laundry daily. Additionally, there is a small waterpark for the little ones to enjoy. Some guest reviews have complained about the variety and quality of food, but it's important to note that this is a 4-star hotel in Fuerteventura, not a gourmet restaurant. While the food quality may not always be top-notch, there are still plenty of decent meal options available. The rooms are spacious, but not soundproof, so noise from other rooms can be heard.

The only frustrating thing was guests who reserved sunbeds early, leaving no space for you and your little one.

Mixed feeling

The entertainment team are amazing with a lot of energy. They are trying so hard to make people enjoy their stay. I really appreciate their efforts. Pools are great and clean and big. Rooms are big and very comfortable and clean.

Food options were limited and mostly with pork meat. Chicken and beefs were very tough and tasteless. We found many dirty cutleries and dishes in between the clean ones. I had to pay 10€ deposit for each pool towel and 2.5€ for cleaning them. Even the scale for luggages was working with coins. It is not really beach front and we had to take a taxi to go to the beach because of the steep slope. Non-alcoholic drink options are very limited.

Super hotel, would return if issues mentioned were dealt with (if possible)...

Lots of positives! -The whole atmosphere of the hotel was lovely. -Everywhere was always clean. The bedrooms were serviced every day. -The adjoining rooms for a family were a sanity saver! We will most definitely be doing that again. -The food choice for adults was good and the snack bar (pool area) was always topped up. The freshly made omelettes for breakfast were delicious and the kids enjoyed the churros/pancakes. Breakfast was the best meal of the day! -The activities going on daily were outstanding - we were surprised as usually when we have travelled out of season, the pool activities/group activities/kids club were always closed or not running. So to have all the poolside/group activities, a kids club twice a day, as well as mini disco and a new show every night, was a massive bonus! -The pool areas were large and ample seating/loungers, however I can imagine in the summer it gets pretty crowded and there's times when people could be left with nowhere to sit. -The upper pool is heated which was a lovely surprise! So many holidays we have been on and the pools are so cold you can barely go in them. We were hardly ever out of the pool this time, which was lovely. -The area surrounding the hotel was beautiful and we explored all the way along to the peninsula. The beach at the end of the walkway was gorgeous and the kids snorkelled in the shallows and saw lots of marine life. -We took a private boat trip out to see dolphins and also to jump off the boat into the crystal clear blue waters to snorkel. We would recommend doing this if your budget allows. -All of the shops and bars/restaurants/cafes were open all the way along the sea front - you would have thought it was summer, but without the crowds! We would most definitely be back, and would have no hesitation in recommending.

A number of issues I came across during our stay: -For being marketed as a family hotel, the daily music choice for around the pool was 95% extremely explicit and inappropriate. This was mentioned to hotel staff. Luckily the majority of children were younger and oblivious, however our children are older and were very shocked to hear it! -Again, for a family hotel, the choice of children's food was abysmal. It was the same day in day out, and was left out for too long so it had all dried up and was not pleasant. Unfortunately, our children ate the same things every day from the adults options. Breakfast was the best option and they filled themselves up on this each day! -During our stay, we complained three times to reception about a really unpleasant drain smell that seemed to just be in the children's room, predominantly the bathroom. We were told each time they would send someone to check/fix and nothing was ever done. We gave up in the end and went through a can of deodorant to attempt to mask the smell! -I would not recommend this hotel for anyone with mobility issues if they are planning to venture out on foot. It is positioned on a pretty steep hill (we even struggled!) and is a fair walk to the start of the main shopping/eating area. We did this walk once at the start of the holiday and ended up getting quick taxis there and back from then! -Although the waterpark was great, and a fab addition to have, it was situated completely separate to the main hotel and pool. This meant that you had to walk upstairs, through reception and across the entrance parking area to access it. Because of this, each time the kids wanted to go to the waterpark, an adult needed to go over and sit with them. It would have been far easier if the waterpark was actually on site with the main pool area so we didn't need to keep moving between the two, although I realise this is probably not feasible with the set up.
